Peru Theology Retreats Fund

In 2021, God began to burden Tim Chapman’s heart to seek a way to help provide theological grounding for a generation of young Christians in Peru. The vision took root the next year, and Tim’s church in Lima, Peru, hosted the first Theology Retreat. They are typically three-day events at a retreat center near Lima where they teach a 10-hour theology course to Christians hungry for truth. They’ve seen an average of 120 attendees each retreat, and more importantly, they are beginning to see lasting fruit in the participants’ lives.

In order to make these retreats affordable for those wanting to attend, it was decided that the cost would need to be supplemented with special gifts to cover: (1) travel and lodging for the guest teacher; (2) transportation for attendees to the retreat center; and (3) the books and materials needed to equip them. The retreats have proven to be an effective and fruitful means of discipleship, and we’re praying for continued growth.

We also have a burden to help young pastors grow in their effectiveness in pastoral ministry. For churches in Peru to grow into healthy, stable churches, they need pastors who are trained and mentored. Under the umbrella of Theology Retreats, the ministry in Peru is planning to also have a regular ministry to pastors. Three to five pastors will spend several days in Lima for hands-on training. Then, throughout the year, there will be follow-up via online meetings. Our prayer is that this ongoing investment will bear fruit in the health and maturity of their congregations.
